Interest Rate remains unchanged!

The South African Reserve Bank left its repo rate unchanged at 5.5% on Thursday as expected, with concerns about a slowing economy off-setting the pressures from inflation, which is likely to stay outside its target band for longer than previously expected.

Splitting of ANC on the cards - 6th Oct 2008

The vision of a multi-party-democracy, as envisaged by so many politicians like Bantu Holomisa (UDM), may not be a scenario from the future. Various Mbeki followers talk openly about leaving the ANC and to start a new party, the National African Congress (NAC). Meanwhile defections from the ANC to the UDM and ID as well as open disputes show the first weakening of the ANC.
