Interest Rate remains unchanged!

The South African Reserve Bank left its repo rate unchanged at 5.5% on Thursday as expected, with concerns about a slowing economy off-setting the pressures from inflation, which is likely to stay outside its target band for longer than previously expected.

Rates remain unchanged for now - 10th Oct 2008

Yesterday after the meeting of the monetary committe of the Reserve Bank of South Africa, its chairman, governeur Toto Mboweni announced that the rates remain unchanged. Reason for it is the inflationary pressure due to a weak Rand as well as the uncertainty on the Financial Markets. Thus the prime lending rate stays at 15.5%.
