Interest Rate remains unchanged!

The South African Reserve Bank left its repo rate unchanged at 5.5% on Thursday as expected, with concerns about a slowing economy off-setting the pressures from inflation, which is likely to stay outside its target band for longer than previously expected.

Rates Cut announced - 11th Dec 2008

Reserve Bank governor Tito Mboweni announced today that the Repo Rate in South Africa will be cut by 50 Basis Points. He justified his step with the continuious reduction of the inflation rate and the lower consumer spending. The new prime lending rate in South Africa is thus 15%.
