Interest Rate remains unchanged!

The South African Reserve Bank left its repo rate unchanged at 5.5% on Thursday as expected, with concerns about a slowing economy off-setting the pressures from inflation, which is likely to stay outside its target band for longer than previously expected.

Final Election Results 2009 - 26th Apr 2009

After the final count was delayed due to various boxes of uncounted votes that went awry in the Western Cape, it is the final result that the ANC could not retain its two-thirds-majority. Nevertheless the ANC became strongest force in eight provinces except for the Western Cape, where the DA under Helen Zille became the leading party with 48.83% of the votes. The final results read as follows:

ANC: 65.89 %
DA: 16.66 %
COPE: 7,41 %
IFP: 4.54 %
ID: 0.92 %
UDM: 0.84 %
FF+: 0.83 %
ACDP: 0.80 %
