What happens to Applications submitted before 1st of September 2022?
We have been flooded with questions regarding the decentralisation, and people noting that visa application submitted at the embassies are being processed there. The core question is, “What happens to the applications submitted before the 1st of September?”
If you submitted something in August or in July, is your visa application being adjudicated at the mission or at Home Affairs in Pretoria? Now, there is no certainty about that. However, we did reach out to many embassies for clarity on this matter. Their answer is that they do accept applications, and they will adjudicate them locally, but everything before submitted the 1st of September will be adjudicated in Pretoria.
This decision is understandable, since the instruction was that until the 1st of October, processing would continue to be in Pretoria. For this reason, it makes sense this is what is happening, even if it’s sad for the applicants and unfortunately, I fear that your applications might be taking a long time.
To Conclude
Anything submitted after the 1st of September gets locally processed, and anything submitted before will get processed in Pretoria.
