Mozambique Student Visa

You need a student visa if you want to study in Mozambique. The student visa covers training and education at recognised educational institutions. Students in Mozambique are not allowed to enter gainful employment. Students can study in Mozambique for 12 months, which may be extended for 12 months.

Even with the extension, the Mozambican student visa doesn’t provide a path that will enable you to emigrate to Mozambique.

General requirements

• A correctly completed and signed Mozambique student visa application form
• A valid passport that has six months remaining
• Two current passport photos
• Proof of paid fees

Visa-specific requirements

Note: If you’re from a visa-restricted country, you need confirmation of pre-approval from the Embassy of Mozambique before submitting applications.

• Proof of sufficient funds to support you while you’re studying in Mozambique
• Motivation letter from you that clearly states your reason for visiting Mozambique and the duration of your stay
• Proof of travel itinerary
• Proof of return ticket or ticket elsewhere (outside Mozambique)
• Proof of accommodation, including a hotel booking or the address of the place where you’ll be staying
• Evidence of invitation and copy of your passport if visiting family or friends

Visa costs differ in Mozambique, depending on the type of visa, the duration of your stay, and your country of origin. This last is important because it’s necessary to determine if you are from a visa-exempt or visa-restricted country. Visa-restricted countries have fees that don’t apply to those from visa-exempt countries.

3. The next step is to apply at your nearest Mozambique Embassy or Visa Facilitation Service Centre.
4. Now you must wait for approval to come through. Your consultant can give you an idea of the turnaround time based on the current situation.
5. Remember, the student visa doesn’t allow you to emigrate to Mozambique, but other options may enable you to extend your stay in the country.
