Application for a Mozambique Tourist Visa

People who want to go on holiday in Mozambique need to get a tourist visa. Visa-exempt countries, including South Africa, needn’t get a tourist visa before travelling to Mozambique. They can simply get their visas at the port of entry. If you’re from a visa-restricted country, contact IBN Immigration Solutions, and we’ll assign a consultant specialising in Mozambique tourist visas to oversee your case.

Mozambican tourist visas are valid for up to 30 days per visit. You can’t stay in Mozambique for more than 90 days a year, and you can’t use the visa as a means to emigrate to the country.

Mozambique Tourist Visa Requirements, Forms & Documentation

There are certain general requirements for all Mozambique visas and permits, including the following:

  • A completed and signed Mozambican visa or permit application form
  • A valid passport that still has six months of validity left
  • The passport must have at least three blank pages
  • Two current passport photos
  • Proof of paid application fees

Then there are visa-specific requirements. Your immigration specialist will take you through these requirements if they apply to your country of origin.

Tourist visa forms and requirements for non-visa-exempt countries include the following:

  • Confirmation of pre-approval from the Embassy of Mozambique before submitting applications.
  • Proof of sufficient funds to support you during your stay in Mozambique
  • A motivation letter from you stating the purpose and duration of your visit
  • Proof of your travel itinerary
  • Proof of your return ticket
  • Proof of accommodation during your trip, including hotel bookings or the address where you will be staying.
  • Evidence of an invitation from your host and a copy of your host’s passport if you’re visiting family or friends

Mozambique Tourist Visa Costs

The costs of the different types of visas vary. Some types are easier and cheaper to apply for than others.

The tourist visa is the most affordable visa in Mozambique. It’s relatively simple and straightforward. Nevertheless, your immigration consultant will provide you with a list of all possible costs and fees, both direct and indirect, such as the cost of renewing your passport if yours doesn’t have six months still to go.

Remember, visa-exempt countries will get their tourist visas at their port of entry.

How to Apply for a Mozambique Tourist Visa

Your specialist in Mozambican tourist visas will guide you through the application process. You’ll get a detailed list of all the forms and documents that you will need. You’ll have assistance completing the forms if necessary.

Once all the documentation is in place, the specialists pre-complete the applications on your behalf.

You must apply at the embassy or Visa Facilitation Service Centre in your home country or country of permanent residence.

Once everything has been submitted, all that’s left to do is wait.

Your Mozambican immigration consultant will give you an estimated turnaround time based on the current situation in the country.

Mozambique recently added 28 countries to its visa exemption list. Visitors holding regular passports are eligible for the exemption, enabling them to stay for up to 30 days. This duration can be prolonged by an extra 60 days if needed. To avail this privilege, travelers must complete registration on a pre-screening platform at least 48 hours before their intended departure and remit a processing fee.

The e-Visa digital platform has been successfully launched and is now accessible to individuals of all nationalities. This platform serves as a convenient tool for obtaining pre-approval for business trips and tourism purposes, eliminating the requirement for physical submission of visa application documents. The introduction of the e-Visa digital platform aligns with the Mozambican government’s ‘Economic Acceleration Stimulus Package,’ designed to foster economic growth, attract foreign direct investment, and enhance business and tourism prospects.

Note: The tourist visa doesn’t provide a path for you to emigrate to Mozambique permanently.
