Applying for a Uganda Special Pass
The Uganda Special Pass is issued to foreign nationals who intend to carry out short-term work or assignments in Uganda. It is the primary authorisation used for temporary work activities that do not justify a full Work Permit (Entry Permit).
This pass is typically granted for an initial period of up to 90 days and may be extended for a further 60 days, depending on the nature of the assignment and at the discretion of the immigration authorities. It is commonly used for short-term contracts, technical assignments, project work, or to allow time for a Work Permit application to be finalised.
The Special Pass is applied for within Uganda through the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control and is issued electronically. Once approved, it must be endorsed in the foreign national’s passport upon arrival or during their stay in Uganda.
