In a recent strategic discussion, Andreas Krensel, CEO and Managing Director of IBN Immigration Solutions, engaged with Ian Coffee, the newly appointed Branch Manager for IBN Namibia. This conversation offered valuable insights into Ian’s professional background, his perspectives on the challenges facing the Namibian immigration landscape, and his vision for advancing IBN’s presence in the region.

Key themes of transparency, collaboration, and accountability emerged as the cornerstones of Ian’s leadership approach, as he and Andreas explored the significant opportunities that Namibia holds for both local and international stakeholders.
Ian’s extensive corporate experience, supported by his legal expertise, positions him as a strong leader equipped to steer IBN Namibia toward growth and success. His focus on delivering customised, client-centric services is poised to enhance both the operational efficiency of the office and the satisfaction of its clientele.
A Warm Welcome and Ian’s Corporate Background
Andreas Krensel: “Hi guys! I’m sitting here with Ian, our new branch manager, running our office in Windhoek. He recently joined IBN and the team, and I’m super, super excited. So Ian, tell me a little bit about yourself, your experience, and what you bring to the table.”
Ian Coffee: “Thank you very much, Andreas. Yes, I’ve been in the corporate space for the past five years, where my experience ranges from leading teams to handling debt collections for large corporate clients. I’m very excited to join the IBN team, which I’ve found to be a standout team. I’m particularly looking forward to delivering tailored solutions to all our clients, which I think is what sets us apart.”
Challenges in Namibia’s Immigration Landscape
Namibia, like many African nations, faces challenges in navigating immigration regulations, and Ian is determined to simplify the process for clients.
Andreas Krensel: “In your new position, what do you think are the key challenges, and how will you tackle them?”
Ian Coffee: “The key challenges in Namibia are the constantly evolving immigration laws and the complex requirements to get even the simplest tasks done. However, we are in the process of streamlining our services to make sure we remain as compliant as possible. Our focus is to maintain a proactive approach while making the process of coming to Namibia as smooth and enjoyable as possible.”
Namibia’s Growth and Industry Focus
Andreas Krensel: “I was last in Windhoek in 2019, and it’s amazing to see how the city has changed post-COVID. There’s been growth with new buildings and government projects—it’s exciting! So, looking to the future, which sectors do you think we should focus on?”
Ian Coffee: “Oil and gas are without a doubt top of mind for everyone. But we’re also seeing growth in green hydrogen, renewable energy projects, and a resurgence in mining operations. Additionally, the agricultural sector is expanding, with individuals coming from abroad to upskill local workers. There’s a lot of potential for new talent and investment to flow into Namibia over the next few months.”
Tourism and Leadership at IBN Namibia
Andreas Krensel: “I was recently with one of our major clients running lodges, and it’s clear that tourism is booming in Namibia. Last year was fantastic, and this year seems to be even better. Cape Town is experiencing the same trend. Tourism is clearly another sector we need to keep our eyes on.”
Ian Coffee: “Yes, definitely. Tourism remains a critical area of growth, and with the developments we’ve seen, I expect it to continue playing a major role in Namibia’s economy.”
Shifting gears, Andreas asked Ian about his leadership philosophy, to which Ian responded with a clear vision for cultivating a strong team culture.
Andreas Krensel: “What are your leadership principles when managing the team, and how will you apply them at IBN Namibia?”
Ian Coffee: “I break my leadership style into three key words: transparency, collaboration, and accountability. These values help create a team that’s informed, eager to work together, and takes responsibility for their actions. I believe this is essential for fostering a team culture that thrives.”
Message to Clients and Partners
Wrapping up the conversation, Andreas asked Ian what message he would send to clients and partners who are considering exploring opportunities in Namibia.
Ian Coffee: “We are here to help. At IBN Namibia, we provide unique, tailor-made solutions for each client’s needs. That’s our promise.”
Looking Ahead
As Ian Coffee steps into his role as Branch Manager of IBN Namibia, his clear focus on addressing regulatory complexities, enhancing service delivery, and capitalising on growth sectors such as oil and gas, renewable energy, mining, and agriculture will be critical to the office’s success.
By fostering a culture of transparency, collaboration, and accountability, Ian is well-positioned to lead the Namibian branch in delivering exceptional immigration solutions. His commitment to providing bespoke services tailored to the unique needs of each client ensures that IBN Namibia remains a trusted partner for businesses and individuals navigating the evolving immigration landscape in Southern Africa.
The future looks bright for IBN Namibia, with Ian at the helm and the continued support of Andreas and the IBN team.
